Wendy's Bio
I am a Canadian Artist who has been in the Niagara Region for over 40 years. As a self taught artist, I worked in the family business as the memorial designer at a local monument company where I created many monuments for dignitaries and local families. In 1989, I received a prestigious award from the Monument Builders of North America, (novice category) for best design.
Early in my career, I took many classes to improve my skills as an artist. As an emerging artist, I received several awards (honorable mentions, 1st and 2nd place awards) at some of the local juried art shows for her drawings and watercolors.
After taking a break to raise my family, I was compelled to returned to my passion of painting. During my free time, I enjoy escaping outdoors to paint “Plein air” with my acrylic paints to capture the scenery most people over look. I also enjoy challenging myself to continually improve and develop compositions with deeper meanings. In my most recent works I use unusual words to connect people to my visual representation.
I have participated in many art festivals and shows in Southern Ontario including: Pelham Art Festival, Art at the Pumphouse, South Niagara Studio Tours and Art lovers (hosted by St. Catharines Art Association).
I am also also a current member of Niagara Shore Artists, St. Catharines Art Association and a member of the Rule of Threes.
